The Parental Policy is applicable only to employees across Kulfi Collective.
A parent is someone who is legally responsible for a child through a natural birthing process, adoption and other methods. Just to be clear for the sake of this policy, being an aunt, uncle or godparent does not constitute being a parent. This policy covers same sex couples as well.
At Kulfi, parents are divided into 2 categories:

</aside>
<aside> <img src="/icons/people_purple.svg" alt="/icons/people_purple.svg" width="40px" /> Caregiving Parent - Anyone who is jointly taking care of the child irrespective of gender or how they became parents
</aside>
A birthing parent has to have spent at least 80 days in the last 12 months in the company, and a caregiving parent at least 180 days in the last 12 months to be eligible for this policy. All leave mentioned is this policy is paid leave.
Leave | Definition of Leave | Period of Leave | Example |
---|---|---|---|
Caregiving Leave | Any parent who is jointly taking care of the child irrespective of the gender of the parent. For clarification - this includes both parents in all cases such as natural birthing mother, adoption, etc. | 26 weeks | Example: X gives birth to a child, gets 26 weeks leave. Y's wife is giving birth to a child, Y gets 26 weeks leave. X or Y adopting a child or having a child through other methods, gets 26 weeks leave. This policy is applicable to both Childbirth and Caregiver. |
Childbirth Leave | A person giving birth to a child | 4 weeks + 26 weeks | Example: Y gives birth to a child, gets 4 weeks leave (additional to the 26 weeks above since Person Y is also considered a caregiver). This policy is only applicable for Childbirth. |
Loss of Pregnancy | Spontaneous or unplanned loss of pregnancy due to medical complications (miscarriage) OR deliberate termination of a human pregnancy (abortion) | 6 weeks / 3 weeks | Example: X is pregnant with the child and unfortunately loses their child or has to terminate the child, gets 6 weeks. Y is a caregiving parent and in both scenarios, gets 3 weeks. This policy is applicable to both Childbirth and Caregiver. |
